Year in review...

Long time no see and all that, and 2025 already.  At the start of 2024 I decided to myself that this game would either live or die at the end of the year - either I'd manage to make good progress and believe I could achieve everything that was required for a decent and honourable conversion, or I'd call it a day and write it all down as an interesting experiment/folly.

Despite not working on the game at all during autumn I have had the space & time to spend on the project recently, and I think it's becoming close to a proper game.  There's been various rounds of optimisation, problems overcome, and features added which I had originally relegated as 'nice to have'.  I've sorted the quests out for all four characters, added unique graphics for each type of enemy, and populated every room.

There have been some misfires along the way though - for example I spent a while optimising some code to find that although it runs much faster you didn't really notice any actual benefit to it and the extra memory it took.

And so... I'm glad to say that I'm very positive of the prospect of this finally being released this year - it's only been in development 7 years(!)

(As a side note... during some of the down-time in the project I was engaged to pick up another project - a conversion to the Speccy of an early 80's arcade game - which was interesting, quick, and fun alternative to this, and so will hopefully also be released at some point this year - so that should be two new games)
